The Strategic Wildfire Resiliency Planning Section, on behalf of the BC Wildfire Service, is the lead for strategic wildfire resiliency planning with the expressed purpose of developing and integrating wildfire resiliency and wildfire risk assessment principles into landscape and wildland urban interface planning in partnership and collaboration with other ministries and agencies, land and values managers, First Nations and Indigenous communities, local authorities, and industry. The team consists of planning officers, a wildfire risk reduction senior resource technologist, a wildfire prevention specialist, a landscape wildfire risk officer, and wildfire prevention technicians. Positioned to support government priorities, this close-knit team operates remotely across the province.
**The Role**
**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**
- A Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management); OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; AND
- Two (2) or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline; AND
- Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project; AND
- Experience managing relationships with stakeholders and partners and leading consultation sessions; AND
- Experience implementing provincial land management planning processes; AND
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Registered Professional Forester
- Fire/Fuel management experience
