**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the Vice-President, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure & Security, the Associate Vice-President, Solution Architecture will be responsible for the technical stewardship of multiple software development projects or programs. This experienced architect will possess the skills to make prompt decisions, lead a team of architects, and drive technical solutions in a timely manner. The Associate Vice-President, Solution Architecture must have a balanced mix of technical and business skills and will often coordinate with the business for strategic direction.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Overseeing all aspects of the organizations design work, blueprint work, and ensuring standards are enforced.
- Assisting with the definition of values and determining how to approach projects and internal business clients. This can include setting standards for quality control and client satisfaction.
- Creating proposals based on alternative options to achieve the same or similar business outcome.
- Providing hands-on guidance to the development teams when required.
- Outlining high-level designs that align with our IT strategy while ensuring that the solutions are built with the right security, reliability, and observability parameters.
- Developing and presenting end-to-end target architecture roadmaps and solution blueprints that the architecture team has put together.
- Influencing decision making and facilitating teams with multiple stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
- Proactively driving rationalization of competing interests and achieve consensus on contentious issues.
- Providing mentorship and coaching to help nurture the development of developers and architects.
- Closely working with digital and data engineering teams in implementing the target state solutions.
- Supporting the creation of and adherence to Cyber-Security and Information Security Reference Architectures by working with the Cyber-Security Engineering team and developing reusable patterns for security.
- Being able to perform hands-on work with AWS and Azure environments.
- Assisting in the training of security champions within the various business units to ensure alignment with security.
- Supporting the evaluation of security concerns with new and emerging technologies with particular focus on SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS specifically MS Azure/AWS.
- Performing other duties as assigned
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information management or equivalent combination of experience.
- Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design, including leadership of other architects.
- Deep technical knowledge across various integration points.
- Strong knowledge of various operating systems, databases, and infrastructure technologies
- Experience with Enterprise Architect and MS VISIO.
- Experience with DevSecOps & AIOps practices.
- Experience with microservices or API-based integrations, including API gateways.
- Experience with Data supply chain delivery.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a solution architecture function.
- Expertise in mobile solutions including native and mobile web.
- Expert verbal & written communication skills; additionally, expert analytical, problem-solving, and influence skills.
- An expert ability to collaborate and act as part of a team, with a focus on cross-group collaboration.
- Expert data-driven decision-making skills.
- An ability to manage ambiguity.
