What You’ll Do:
As an Associate within our Energy Storage group, you will be supporting Northland’s growth in energy storage, which is a strategic growth area of the company. As a key member of the team, you will play a leading role in transaction execution and analysis of new investment opportunities. You will also partake in other projects assigned to the team, which will involve leading the necessary analysis for the company to make various strategic decisions, such as entering new markets or new lines of business. Reporting into our Head of Energy Storage, this is a great opportunity for someone interested in a high-impact, highly visible role as we position ourselves for new wave of global decarbonization.

The position will require regular travel to meet with Northland’s regional development teams, the management teams of acquisition targets, financial advisors, and other external parties.

Key Responsibilities
- Support analysis of investment opportunities in standalone battery storage globally.
- Prepare and manage financial models for valuation, risk assessment, and cash flow evaluation purposes.
- Support investment transactions, including managing due diligence processes, leading through Northland’s internal approval process, and leading negotiations key agreements.
- Review financial models prepared by third parties and advisors.
- Coordinate diligence of opportunities with the support of internal experts and external advisors.
- Prepare presentations summarizing investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Support other strategy analysis and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or related field, with exceptional academic results.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working for an independent power producer, primary energy company, or investment firm with direct investments in renewable power and related infrastructure.
- Direct experience with energy storage development, renewable power or oil and gas project development/transaction management is an asset.
- Experience valuing corporate or project-level acquisition opportunities as well as creating and reviewing detailed cash flow and three-statement financial models.
