We are currently seeking a qualified, well read and enthusiastic individual to assume the vibrant position of Library Assistant with the Community Services Department. The Library serves the population of Yellowknife (approximately 20,000) and offers a comfortable space for reading and studying as well as programs that are offered to residents of all ages from babies to adults. The library is truly a gathering place for our community

Under the supervision of the Public Services Librarian, the incumbent provides library services to the public, performs the clerical duties necessary to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the library and provides interlibrary loan services. The daily work can include registering patrons for library programs, helping patrons with public access computers, assisting with children's programming, creating and maintaining attractive and informative book displays, processing materials being taken out and returned, maintaining the library's catalogue using the library's computer system, and coordinating acquisitions by recording orders, verifying shipments with invoices and modifying computer records accordingly.

The City of Yellowknife offers a competitive salary range of $66,443.97 - $77,929.71, plus a comprehensive benefits package which includes a defined benefit pension plan.
