Relief Foster Caregiver

Description:
Heritage Family Services Families Program is looking for upbeat, creative and caring individual(s), to provide respite support to our foster care program averaging 2-7 days per month. Respite Fosters aid in collaborating with Foster Caregivers and the Foster Care Program, providing food and shelter during the duration of respite, and contributing in solid foundations for building healthy relationships. As a Respite Foster Caregiver, you will become a vital part of a team that values person-focused and attachment based care; building relationships with children and families that will have a positive impact in their daily lives.
You will earn $65.00 per day per child as tax-free income and access have to 24/7 On-Call Support.
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Provide a safe and engaging home for youth to stay while in respite care.
- Planning, preparing, and cooking nutritious meals for youth while in respite care.
- Pre-planning with Foster Caregivers and the Foster Care Program on recreational activities, mileage and other important events prior to respite care events.
- Create and sustain trusting relationships and demonstrate respect for individuality
- Ensure that youth are provided with a safe and secure environment

All adults in the home will be responsible to provide:

- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with children and families in order to foster a safe environment.
- Responsible decision making skills while with youth.
- Demonstrated ability in active listening, creative problem solving, and promoting healthy communication with youth and families.
- Clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Clean Child Intervention Check
- Valid Driver’s License,
