**We are currently looking for a Construction Manager for our Battery Specific Infrastructure (BSI) Division based out of St. Thomas, ON**
Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas will carry out all battery activities - from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories. Reporting to the Senior Manager, BSI, the BSI Construction Manager will oversee the design, coordination, and implementation of all static architectural elements in the construction of the clean and dry rooms within in the industrial facility. This role will work closely with other stakeholders to ensure that all architectural systems are designed and built according to the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring that static architectural aspects are integrated into the overall construction process smoothly.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Oversee the design and execution of all battery specific infrastructure construction
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure that clean & dry room requirements are met within project timelines and budgets.
- Manage the BSI aspects of industrial facility projects from design through construction and handover stages.
- Work closely with the BSI Manager and other department heads to align architectural designs with the overall construction and operational goals.
- Coordinate with external contractors, design consultants, and vendors to ensure that BSI work complies with building codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for all BSI components during construction phases, ensuring integration with structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ensure that all architectural works comply with safety regulations, building codes, and sustainability standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the quality of work and adherence to the design specifications and identify and mitigate risks related to architectural design and construction.
- Develop and manage budgets related to battery specific infrastructure construction elements, ensuring efficient use of resources and materials.
- Oversee procurement of materials and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality control.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to architectural designs, changes, and project progress.
- Interpreting project documents to determine requirements and necessary paths of action.
- Performing quality control/quality assurance in areas related to construction and design.
- Developing labour and material cost estimates.
**Required Skills**:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a construction related field, or equivalent experience
P.Eng. or P.E. preferred but not required
10+ years working in the construction industry (engineering, architecture, or construction-related, or equivalent), preferably with execution of industrial facilities design-builds, and/or megaprojects.
5+ years leadership experience managing direct reports.
Experience being responsible for technical aspects of a construction project related to Civil Engineering, including but not limited to: Earthwork, Foundations, Buried Pipe
Proven proficiency with construction scheduling, workflows, and quality control/quality assurance.
Expert knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Demonstrated expertise in project management, budget oversight, and risk management.
Proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Project.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
