**Position: HR Assistant (Part-time)**

**Hours: 30 hours per week**

**Responsibilities**:
As an HR Assistant at BGC East Scarborough, you will play a key role in supporting both HR and payroll functions. Your primary responsibilities will include:
**1. HR Duties**:

- Assisting in the preparation of employment contracts and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Providing support to employees and addressing their questions and concerns.
- Facilitating employee orientation and training sessions.
- Administering employee benefits and ensuring compliance with relevant policies.

**2. Payroll Management**:

- Assisting in payroll processing for a team of 250 staff, including both full-time and part-time employees.
- Verifying attendance and time records for accuracy.
- Efficiently inputting payroll data and managing related documentation.
- Processing Records of Employment (ROEs) when required.
- Preparing invoices for third-party services related to payroll.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in HR and payroll administration is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and HR/payroll software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations would be an asset.

**Opportunity for Full-time Hours**:
This part-time role has the potential to become full-time to cover a maternity leave. A successful HR Assistant may have the opportunity to transition to a full-time position based on performance and business needs.

**Experience and Training/Education**
- Completion of a university degree or community college diploma in Human Resources or completion of equivalent training or education complemented by appropriate human resources experience.
- One or more years of demonstrated experience in Human Resources, preferably with experience in a Generalist role.
- Hands-on experience with an HRIS or HRMS
- WHMIS training is an asset
- CHRP designation certification is an asset

**Knowledge and Attributes**
- In-depth knowledge of employment and workplace legislation such as Human Rights, Health and Safety, AODA, ESA and generally accepted HR guidelines
- Competence in building and effectively managing interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail; strong organization and time management skills
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic

**Contract period: 4 months contract**

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
