**Work Location**:
This role will be based onsite at the Tim Horton Children's Ranch in Kananskis, AB.

**Contract Length**:
May 1, 2025 - August 15, 2025

**What would you be doing?**:

- Leading a team of horse program staff ('Wranglers'), leading by example and creating a positive working environment
- Oversee Wrangler schedule and rotating horse line ups based on horse personalities and well being
- Planning, implementation and delivery of an introductory riding program, which includes arena instruction and an overnight component
- Ensure Horse Program areas, equipment and supplies are in good repair, are kept clean and organized and are available for use in adequate supply
- Support the Program Manager with recruitment, training, and performance feedback as needed
- Identify, assess, and appropriately manage risks and on-site crises in line with THFC's risk management standards
- Model healthy choices and emotional maturity
- Work with all Camp Coordinators to ensure success of Camp Programming
- Fulfill the role of absent Wranglers
- Check trail status regularly, facilitate any necessary changes to the program as directed by the Program Manager or Horse Manager
- Build and sustain relationships with aligned community partners
- Riding and exercising horses

**Does this sound like you?**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent experience
- Training and experience in western style riding in an arena and on the trail
- Experience teaching novice western riding skills in an arena and on the trail
- Ability to catch, lead, groom, tack and handle and care for horses without assistance
- Ability to mount and dismount without mounting block, lift hay bales, saddle and unsaddle multiple horses daily, as well as other physically demands associated with the job
- Experience with risk assessments and crisis management
- Ability to use strong judgement and make decisions in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated experience with coaching and mentoring others, experience as a Program Supervisor in a residential camp setting an asset
- Experienced at facilitating outdoor excursions for groups of diverse youth within a camp or outdoor recreation/education environment
- Ability to spend extended periods of time at camp and work flexible hours
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Search or Vulnerable Sector Search, as applicable
