**Job Purpose**

To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the camp Kitchen and meal operations along with rendering onsite first aid and emergency response to injured employees. This role is essential to keep field crews well nourished and provisioned with immediate First Aid support.

**Job Overview**

The Cook is responsible for all aspects of meal preparation including but not limited to clean up, cooking, making lunches, placing orders for food and required supplies. They ensure all Emergency Response Plans (ERP) are in place and clearly communicated and attend and participate in daily safety meetings and ensure GroundTruth Safety Protocols are always being followed.

**The Job’s Operational Responsibilities**

**Duties**:

- Preparing all meals including breakfasts, Lunches and dinners with variety in choices and being mindful of specific food allergies.
- Ensuring that all first aid kits are fully stocked and in working order before going out to the field.
- Attending any and all first aid requirements of all members of the crew.
- Delegating duties during a medical emergency in a calm, clear and efficient way in order to maximize safety.
- Disposing of all garbage in the most environmentally friendly manner.
- Delivering lunches to field crews if possible based on distance from camp
- Monitoring inventory of camp supplies, place orders to replenish when required, 2-day turnaround required
- Keeping all first aid supplies in a safe and dry location to ensure that they are in good working order
- Reporting on DATS all Hazards, non-conformances, near misses and incidents.
- Following all GroundTruth Safety Protocols as required.
- Cleaning, organizing all camp resources
- Gathering, piling and cutting firewood
- Other safety and first aid duties as required.

**Camp Responsibilities**:

- Managing and maintaining a sanitary, safe and organized camp to foster an environment that respects the well-being and health of all camp members.
- Assisting with the assembly and tear down of wall tent camps to ensure safe and efficient mobilization days.
- Ensuring all electronic tools for the job (i.e., handheld devices and ICOM radios) are fully charged and ready for the work day each morning.

**Safety Responsibilities**
- Ensuring open dialogue and communication with direct supervisor on any aspects of training that remain “unclear” in a timely manner, to ensure additional coaching is provided prior to working in hazardous conditions.
- Leading and Participating in daily Safety Meetings as well as After Action Shift summaries, and all Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
- Reporting all Hazards, Near Misses, Close Calls, Incidents, Injuries and Non-Conformances encountered on the job, to identify safety hazard trends and mitigate future incidents.
- Adhering to all Safety Employee Rights and Responsibilities; including but not limited to, refusal of any unsafe work, whilst working towards a safe alternative.
- Wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job and communicating any damaged PPE to be replaced in order to prevent injury

**Working Conditions**

The Camp Cook position requires the employee to work outside in various terrain and weather conditions. The weather conditions include but are not limited to; a temperature range of -20°C up to +35°C, very dry to very humid climate, heavy rainfall, wind and snow. Terrain can vary from rolling hills to steep mountain sides that will be traversed on foot daily. Work days are 12-hour shifts that run 7 days a week for the duration of the project unless otherwise stated. The project location may be reached by a variety of transportation methods such as; truck, helicopter, boat, fixed-wing aircraft or all-terrain vehicles. Every camp will be provided with a wall tent or tents of similar structure depending on location, satellite internet and all other camp elements. Employees will be working and living in close quarters with the rest of their crew for the duration of the project. Communication outside of camp may be limited as there is no cellphone service, and the satellite internet is not high-speed. Exploration projects are frequently remote and isolated. It is important to recognize that transportation between the project and the city may take upwards of 10 hours.

Medical conditions that may be serious in nature such as but not limited to; severe allergies, breathing conditions, heart conditions, diabetes, epilepsy and others, are recommended to be informed to the Direct Supervisor and/or Project Manager. It is important that the company knows what kind of care is required in the event of an emergency as it may take 10 or more hours to transport a person in need of professional medical care from a project location to a health center.
