**OVERVIEW**
As a Products Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the execution and success of our digital product strategy in order to achieve Travel Alberta’s organizational mandate to drive Alberta’s visitor economy. Our tourism community needs a mix of technology solutions and great people, and this role is at the heart of that goal. You will connect regularly with cross-functional teams and our digital agency partners to ensure the success of products that enhance the experience for both internal and external users.
This role requires strong interest in technology, project management, product management and communication skills to effectively coordinate and manage product development processes. To be successful in this role, we need to you be a self-starter, curious, and at the center of ensuring that our teams have what they need to take the next step by utilizing a diverse toolbox of competencies that relate to discovery, collaboration and delivery. In short, we are looking for a generalist that knows the right activity for the right problem we are taking on
**STRATEGIC ACCOUNTABILITIES**
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Empower cross-functional teams, including internal teams and agency partners, to execute on the product strategy and manage project timelines, deliverables and resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget (20%).
Communication and Alignment: Facilitate clear and effective communication between internal partners and the digital agency to ensure alignment and successful project execution (20%).
Budget Management: Assist in managing the budget for product development projects, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenditures are tracked accurately (20%).
Measurement and Reporting: monitor, track, and optimize product performance with internal teams and agency partners. Report performance to stakeholders and use data to inform key product decisions and strategy (20%).
Product Management: Ensure products are achieving user and business strategic goals (20%).
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Communications, User Experience, Project Management Product Ownership or Product Management. Product Management certification or training is an asset.
- 2-3 years of experience in any adjacent roles such as digital marketing, product owner or product management.
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing timelines, deliverables, and resources.
- Effective communication (written and verbal), excellent presentation skills, and the ability to communicate asynchronously
- Ability to engage with the team to collect feedback about how you are operating and iterate towards an environment of trust and mutual respect.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong “can-do,” attitude with willingness to be flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment.
- Resourceful, with a curiosity to solve problems, create effective solutions, and ask thoughtful questions
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Sense of urgency to complete job duties accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ability to effectively navigate around unexpected obstacles, and ask for help when needed
- Strong sense of prioritization and focus to complete tasks.
- Familiarity with Product Management practices
- Experience working with project management tools (JIRA, MS Azure Dev Ops, Clickup), Google Analytics and Sanity CMS preferred.
- Experience working with agencies, contractors, and vendors including briefing, developing optimizations, A/B testing and reporting metrics.
- Understanding of the tourism industry is preferred
