We are seeking a self-motivated, highly organized person to join our team as Store Manager of our new Hamilton/Ancaster location.

Our competitive compensation structure consists of base wage + KPI bonuses + sales commission for over-achievers. Base wage will be $18 per hour. On top of that, there are uncapped bonuses and commissions that will earn high performers an attractive compensation package.

Urban Nature Store is a leader in the Wild Birding industry. Our customers rely on us for our expertise and for a wide variety of high quality wild bird related products. Everything from food to binoculars, specialty gifts and garden accessories. Our customers are wild bird and nature enthusiasts who love to share their latest nature stories and sightings with us.

**Major Responsibilities**

Store Managers are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store and ensuring optimum sales through merchandise, inventory and human resource management. You would be responsible for:

- Ensuring each customer receives outstanding customer service in a friendly environment, which includes greeting and welcoming each customer, maintaining high standards, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of outstanding customer service.
- Setting a positive example through effective sales skills and product knowledge on the sales floor.
- Coordinating floor merchandising, cleaning the store and maintaining the overall appearance of the store.
- Managing deliveries of products and proper inventory rotation.
- Ensuring the accurate completion of all sales transactions and proper cash accountabilities at the POS register.
- Training staff on the use of the POS system and other company policies and procedures.
- Execution of the company's monthly marketing plans
- Development of local marketing initiatives
- Communicating and working with management and fellow team members.
- Daily upkeep of performance spreadsheets and reports.
- Creating the monthly staffing schedule.
- Semi-monthly payroll submissions and bonus reports.

**Qualifications**
- 2 years of retail or service related experience in a supervisory role (Pet, birding or garden sector experience is a definite asset).
- Wild bird enthusiast who actively feeds/photographs and maintains a birding journal is an asset, but the priority is for a retail superstar.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibility.
- Ability to create, maintain and rotate attractive merchandising displays.
- Familiar with Google Sheets and the maintenance of information across several spreadsheets.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and other productivity software.
- Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
- Basic math skills, as it relates to retail sales.
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience using a POS system.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lb bags.
- Able to work days, evenings, weekends.
- Have a reliable means of transportation to and from the store.
- Enthusiasm for independent research, learning and personal growth.
