We are a local retail butcher shop in the Wellington West community, seeking a team member to oversee our retail operations, in partnership with our butcher and kitchen staff teams. Our clients come to us for quality specialty meat products, custom orders, service and advice, and have a wide variety of dietary preferences. As a large specialty shop, we offer a wide range of custom and artisanal products. Our staff require deep product knowledge and the ability to understand client needs and provide recommendations. We work in a busy environment as we prepare most of our products in-house. We are looking for a responsible individual to join our team on a full-time basis, for roughly 36 - 40 hours per week (between 9:00am - 6:00pm approx), including weekends. We offer group health benefits, profit-sharing and a staff discount.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee a team responsible for retail store operations to ensure a quality customer experience
- Provide customer advice concerning specialized products or services, product use, storage and cooking instructions
- Ensure fresh and appealing product display by checking quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked, and rotating inventory
- Prepare and package fresh meats, deli and prepared foods for sale, adhering to food safety protocols (slice meats, serve fresh meat, wrap meats and prepared foods, skewer meat/poultry for kabobs, make burgers, marinate, and/or stuff oven-ready items),
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment, ensuring meat display cases, glass, signs, coolers, counters and floors are clean and organized.
- Process cash, debit/credit transactions and on-line orders
- Maintain inventory control
**Requirements**:
- 2-3 year of experience working in a retail food environment in positions of increasing responsibility
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to oversee a team
- Ability to prioritize work in a busy environment
- Available to work 5 days a week, including weekends
- Demonstrated reliability
- Food Handling Certificate
- This job requires standing throughout a shift and being able to lift up to 50lbs.
