Edmonton, Canada Abby Road Support Services Full time

Abby Road Housing Co-operative is seeking a Program Coordinator for our Support Services Program. The co-op, and the support services program in particular, was founded in 1987 by people with disabilities who saw a need for accessible housing and wanted to maintain a degree of control over their care needs. The model of care that developed from this goal was a self-directed care model in which clients must be able to direct Health Care Aides to carry out their care.

Therefore, the program itself is quite unique in that it does not have the feel of an institution. Our clients have families, attend work and school, and participate fully in their community in ways they see fit. Abby Road Housing Cooperative is a fully integrated building with roughly 50% of the suites adapted for people with disabilities.

Reporting to the VP of Support Services, the program coordinator will need to be responsive to 25 clients with various physical disabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling and prioritizing of authorized care hours, addressing client concerns and requests, and generally being an on-site presence and resource for our clients. This position will also necessitate the supervision of an employee pool of 23 full-time and part-time health-care aides and 1 LPN. - Supervising the Support program staff in a union environment in compliance with the CUPE Collective Bargaining agreement
- Scheduling of all services with the program users
- Completing administrative tasks related to reporting and compliance with Alberta Health Services agreements.
- CARF and Accreditation standards
- Billing within AHS' homefirst system
- Submitting payroll information.

Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Alberta homecare.
- Alberta Health Services Continuing Care Health Service Standards.
- Alberta Health Services Homefirst Billing.
- 5 years+ supervisory experience.
- Change management.
- Familiarity with CARF or other accreditation standards.
- Following disciplinary procedures.
- Working in a unionized environment.
- Diligent record-keeping and document tracking skills.
- Effectively develop and build rapport with program users and support program staff.
- Self-motivated: able to work both independently and as an effective team member.
- Experience providing services to persons with physical disabilities in a home or community environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

The position requires 30 hours a week on-site. The times of day are flexible, though we would like the program coordinator to be able to work the occasional evening or weekend shift.
