**Organization Summary**

CMHA-Edmonton is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that all people experience good mental health and well-being. We support the resilience and recovery of people in distress including those affected by mental illness or suicide by providing crisis intervention; safe, long-term and affordable housing; peer support; suicide grief and family support; information and referral support; and providing opportunities to improve your wellness.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Manager, Housing Services, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, cleanliness, and general upkeep, both inside and outside, for the residential apartment buildings that are owned and managed by the CMHA-Edmonton. The position will liaise with tenants and respond to requests for maintenance work in individual suites and common areas. As appropriate, the Maintenance Coordinator will either perform maintenance activities directly (e.g. basic plumbing, electrical/mechanical, carpentry, etc. work) or will arrange for external contractors to complete necessary maintenance and repairs. The position will also supervise casual staff performing light duty janitorial and ground maintenance duties, and perform these same duties as required. Participation in an on-call rotation to be able to assist with emergency maintenance issues after regular business hours and on weekends is required.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Completion of Grade 12 and a minimum of 3 years of previous maintenance experience in a multi-unit family apartment/condo complex
- Acceptable attainment and maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check
- Possession of a Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle with $2M in automobile liability insurance

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responsibilities in basic maintenance, repair, and renovation activities as related to multi-unit apartment buildings
- Problem solving skills to assess problem situations and identify causes, gather, and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health; mental illness and recovery; information and referral services; and crisis intervention

**Skills/Abilities**
- Proven knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
- Skilled in preventative maintenance management at multiple locations.
- Able to take direction, work independently & with others, multi-task, prioritize and problem-solve.
- Demonstrated understanding of appropriate legislation such as the Residential Tenancies Act, Alberta Housing Act, Social Housing Accommodations Regulations, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Safety Codes Act, The Occupations Health and Safety legislation for the Province of Alberta, Public Health Act and the Alberta Fire Code
- Excellent communicator, both orally and in written form, deal with tenants.
- Perform physical work, lift up to 50lbs. and to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to effectively use Microsoft Office
