We are currently hiring for the position of:
**DIGITAL ASSET LIBRARIAN**

The Film Reference Library (FRL) is dedicated to preserving Canadian cinema heritage and promoting cinema scholarship by collecting, preserving, and providing access to a comprehensive collection of reference resources, as well as film and archival materials. The Library is free, open to the public, and a popular destination for movie lovers, filmmakers, students, researchers, screenwriters, and film and television professionals.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Public Programming, the Digital Asset Librarian will be responsible for integrating the MediaValet Digital Asset Management system within TIFF processes. Responsibilities include day-to-day administration of MediaValet, developing a taxonomy of metadata, creating a training manual and onboarding team members, and working cross-functionally to collaborate and share digital assets, improving productivity and increasing organizational ROI. This role will be tasked with ensuring broad support for solutions and standards used within the DAM system for it to function effectively within TIFF and providing expertise to staff on integrating system into departmental processes

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develop an informed and consistent metadata taxonomy, to serve as the foundation of digital asset management within the organization- Implement the metadata taxonomy and oversee its adoption across the organization- Organize digital assets and increase metadata through training, co-op students, and system technology (ie artificial intelligence)- Ensure internal usability, efficiency, and organization of data assets and organizing structures- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues, together with vendor when necessary- Oversee the day-to-day system administration of MediaValet- Oversee the uploading of FRL assets into MediaValet and assist other departments when ingesting TIFF assets into MediaValet- Integrate information and assets from various sources and databases (servers, hard drives and cloud storage) into DAM system and communicate any inconsistencies or issues- Create a training manual and on-boarding process to introduce new team members to the system- Design and optimize workflows for TIFF staff to access and request digital assets- Assist with inquiries from TIFF departments to find or facilitate the use of assets- Performs advanced asset searches and tagging of artworks- Collect monthly and annual digital asset stats- Other Film Reference Library duties and projects as assigned

**JOB GRADE & SALARY**:
- Job Grade 3- $60,000- $78,000/ Annually

**TARGET CONTRACT DATES**:
- August 14, 2023 - August 16, 2024

**WORK LOCATION**:
- Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5- Weekly in office requirements:
- Minimum 2 days (November to May)-

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
- 2-3 years experience working in a library and/or archives, with specific knowledge of database systems-
- Demonstrated experience working with data asset management systems software/collections management software, and Excel- Experience in creating and working with DAM taxonomy and metadata standards; library and archival cataloguing standards (RAD, Library of Congress, MARC); as well as preservation knowledge.- Experience with database management, including data-entry, maintenance/quality control of records; creating organizational file structures, advanced searches, and batch processes.- Knowledge and understanding of digital image file parameters, including bit depth, color profiles, resolution, compression, image size and formats and familiar with a wide variety of asset types (eg. images, html/xml, documents, audio, video)- Knowledge of Canadian Copyright law an asset.-
