**JOB SUMMARY**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Experience**:
Minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent certification specializing in Human Resources is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a multi-union and public sector environment is preferred. CHRP or CHRL equivalent designation required.

**SKILLS REQUIRED**:
**Knowledge of**:
- Comprehensive knowledge in labour relations and human resources practices and processes
- Thorough understanding of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Education Act, School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, Ontario College of Teachers Act and Human Rights Code
- Specific knowledge of arbitrations and how collective agreements are applied

**Competencies**:
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management, union and maintain relationships and provide expertise
- Demonstrated leadership and success with negotiations, conflict resolution and problem-solving
- Excellent research, documentation, presentation and communication skills - both written and verbal with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to take initiative, use judgment and work independently in a fast pace environment to meet timelines
- Proficiency with computers and social media (e.g. Microsoft suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook, etc.)
- Ability to coordinate processes (e.g. grievance process)
- Range of interpersonal skills to perform activities such as coaching, interviewing, communicating complex information, counselling, listening, influencing others, performing conflict resolution and negotiating

**BRIEF LIST OF DUTIES**:

- Coaches and provides advice, direction and support to Supervisors, Principals, and/or Managers on all labour relations matters (e.g. Performance issues, discipline, workplace harassment) and advises on appropriate course of action
- Conducts workplace investigations
- Negotiations - Conducts research, prepares briefs, performs analyses and assists in the development of the Board’s proposals and counter-proposals, prepares final agreement
- Administers the implementation of changes to the collective agreements, such as amending processes and procedures, and educating stakeholders on changes
- Manages the grievance process for assigned groups, prepares case submissions, drafts memorandums of settlements and implements settlements;
- Provides support and expertise in the arbitration process
- Leads the joint labour-management process to ensure areas of concern and/or conflict are identified and provides follow-through to dispute resolution
- Provides ongoing labour relations advice, consultation and training to Supervisors, Principals and Managers
