The Digital Storyteller is responsible for championing the design, production, and execution of compelling digital content across Conestoga College’s digital communications channels. This role will focus on growing and engaging with Conestoga’s online community. As the key content creator, this role will create narratives that resonate with various audiences across our digital platforms.
**Responsibilities**:
**Content creation, strategy, and performance**
- Takes a lead role in creating authentic and compelling content that tells Conestoga’s story across various social media platforms, including, but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok
- Works under the leadership of the Manager of Creative & Client Services and collaborates with the Digital Media Coordinator, Corporate Communications to develop and maintain a comprehensive editorial content strategy and digital communication plan
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, creates ongoing series tailored to specific social and digital platforms, ensuring broad and consistent coverage across all key college areas
- Writes, edits, and produces short-form and long-form narrative-driven content, including videos, posts, infographics, and other interactive content, that satisfies Conestoga’s goal of cohesive storytelling and brand narrative
- Champions brand consistency by working with the design team to ensure visual storytelling and assets align with Conestoga’s brand identity
- Captures key college events as they relate to the overall brand and key stakeholders, ensuring a timely promotion of these events on the appropriate digital platforms
- Ensures Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA) compliance of digital material, where applicable
- Assumes a key role in developing an ongoing content strategy to shape and drive Conestoga’s storytelling narrative and brand
- Strategizes and collaborates with stakeholders at the college who maintain secondary social channels to ensure a cohesive brand and storytelling experience across all platforms
- Uses empirical statistical performance data, industry trends, and best practices to recommend strategic course corrections and new strategies
- Acts as the point of contact with the domestic program promotion team, including the Digital Marketing Strategist, to ensure adherence to brand and storytelling strategies in digital advertising campaigns
- Collects, analyzes, and presents statistical performance metrics and data related to all main digital platforms, using this data to make key content strategy recommendations and adjust content based on past performance metrics
- Collects ongoing performance metrics and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all main digital content channels
- Analyzes and presents data and metrics to key stakeholders on an ongoing basis
- Uses collected data and metrics to ensure content is on-brand and to inform decisions on the future direction of content, including any necessary course corrections
- Analyzes competitor content to identify additional opportunities for Conestoga’s visual storytelling platforms
- Creates ongoing reports containing key data for use in presentations by management and advises management on key metrics interpretation and recommendations
**Community of practice**
- Serves as an expert voice on social media and digital storytelling, providing strategic guidance to the community of practice
- Presents and consults on key best practices and emerging trends in digital storytelling
- Develops, maintains, and updates social media policies and practices and disseminates this information to stakeholders through the community of practice
- Acts as the primary point of contact for college stakeholders with questions about social media and digital storytelling best practices
**Qualifications**:
- Three-year diploma or degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Social Media Marketing, or a related field is required
- Minimum five years of experience in digital content production or social media marketing is required, preferably in post-secondary education
- Strong storytelling skills with a proven ability to create engaging digital content
- Expert understanding of social media platforms, including, but not limited to, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Reddit, and Discord, and the backend business systems that power them
