**Classification**: Full-Time Permanent Monday
- Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm some evenings /weekends

**Background**:
The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is currently searching for a Cultural / Knowledge Keeper. This position reports directly to the Wi Che Win program Team Lead.

**Specific accountability**:
The Cultural / Knowledge Keeper will use traditional teachings to maintain and promote the Cultural values and beliefs within the Wi Che Win Program. The Cultural / Knowledge Keeper works closely with the Team Lead/ staff and program participants ensuring that work processes and decisions are completed in a culturally sensitive manner. Under the direct supervision of the Team Lead, provide traditional, educational and support services to participants of the Wi Che Win Program.

**Qualifications**:

- Group processes, leadership dynamics and group facilitation ability.
- Knowledge and understanding of a strength-based approach in engaging with people.
- Confident and positive to engage individuals in the helping relationship process to support, motivate and encourage others to make positive choices for themselves.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an effective working relationship.
- Working knowledge and experience in mental health, homelessness, substance abuse, housing, and community development.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and implement programs that address needs of the participants.
- Sound understanding of the impacts of oppression, marginalization, colonization, and poverty on Indigenous people.
- Aware of social issues impacting urban Indigenous people.
- Understanding of Indigenous cultures and tradition to work with culturally diverse groups.
- Working knowledge of the meaning of harm reduction with a willingness to work with participants on this basis.
- Experience working with community organizations and community development processes.
- Must have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
- Current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks required.
