Junior Heavy Equipment Technician

W.F. Botkin is currently seeking a permanent full-time Junior Heavy Equipment Technician for our Regina location. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing various large equipment including, but not limited to, skid steers, loaders, rock trucks, graders, etc. This role plays a crucial piece in ensuring the health and safety of equipment and the health and safety of the employees.
**Job Duties**:
- Assist in inspecting, repairing, and adjusting gasoline and diesel-powered units under supervision
- Follow workplace safety policies, regulations, and procedures at all times
- Report any unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries promptly
- Support efforts to improve operations, streamline work processes, and deliver quality service
- Learn to diagnose and assist in repairing defects in equipment
- Gain familiarity with operating automotive servicing and diagnostic equipment
- Assist in installing new equipment and making additions as directed
- Learn basic electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Support in repairing cooling and lubrication systems under guidance
- Assist in the installation and alignment of engines and machinery
- Learn to assist in repairing mechanical transmissions and differentials
- Assist in testing repaired equipment for proper performance
- May assist in driving service truck to various locations under supervision
- Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and other basic tasks
- Maintain records of maintenance and documentation as directed
- Stay updated on changes in technology and repair techniques
- Perform other tasks as required and directed
**Required Experience**:
- Some exposure or education in maintaining and repairing equipment
- Possess or working towards basic certifications/apprenticeships in mechanical fields
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record or ability to obtain one
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to health and safety
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Team player with a willingness to learn and grow
- Flexibility with scheduling, including potential overtime or weekend work
- Requirement of steel-toe safety boots
