Customs Import/export Assistant

**Summary of Responsibilities**
Assist with basic Customs/Import/Export operational functions and reporting to support workload redistribution during SAP upgrade project.
**Key Duties & Responsibilities**
- Manage Manifests - extract manifest data and send to broker, manage internal filing of customs and shipping documents to meet record keeping regulations and Canada Customs audit requirements.
- Manage Import Shipments - arrange inbound delivery, ensure cargo release, coordinate payment to carrier, release cargo, and correct arrival notice errors.
- Manage Export Shipments - consolidate export shipments with warehouses, prepare export documents and book air/ocean shipments, send ship notification to consignee, file Export Declaration to customs.
- Manage Commercial Invoices (Import & Export) - update commercial shipping data and commercial value in system.
- Support Accounting - code GL for invoices relating to international transportation (air/ocean freight, container drayage, truck carrier and destination charge).
- Maintain Shipment Arrival Dates - track shipments and update system ETAs.
**Education Requirements and/or Experience Requirements**
- **Degree/Diploma**:Post-secondary diploma/degree
- **Program of Study**:General
- **Years of Experience**:1+ years
- **Type of Experience**:Workplace experience in Import/Export/Customs operational functions
**Skills & Abilities**
- CIFFA certificate / CCS designation (or in progress) an asset.
- Understanding of overall global trade rules and customs flow.
- Moderate Excel skills - formulae and pivot tables.
- SAP experience an asset.
