**Role Responsibilities**:
As a Business Policy Analyst, you will provide crucial policy advice to the Minister and Executive on matters affecting the competitiveness and success of agri-food businesses in Alberta. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the evolving labor situation, including awareness of provincial and federal programs and legislation. You will be expected to maintain a broad network of contacts across industry and governments, analyze complex information, stay abreast of trends in labor policy, and develop effective policy options for the Ministry.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Understand and develop labor policy positions, recommendations, and strategies to enhance industry competitiveness and growth.
- Develop policies to enhance the ability of Alberta agriculture and food businesses to attract and retain workers.
- Ensure the agri-food sector is fairly represented in labor policy discussions at both provincial and federal levels.
- Provide policy recommendations on the impact of international labor developments on Alberta's competitiveness.
- Monitor, analyze, and provide written reports on the implications of demographic, immigration, and macroeconomic factors on Alberta’s labor market.
- Develop government policy positions and potential responses/strategies to labor market developments and economic reforms.
- Analyze and report on the impact of provincial and federal labor policies on Alberta's agri-food industry.
- Represent and safeguard Alberta's labor and business policy interests.
- Coordinate and manage, in collaboration with industry and other governments, the resolution of immigration issues that impede Alberta's access to immigrants and foreign workers.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements of the Role**:

- University graduation (Economics or related) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience (policy and economics analysis or related); or equivalent.**Assets**:

- Experience with computers and a variety of computer software packages.
- Theoretical and analytical basis for understanding and interpreting complex business policies and macro economic issues.
- Ability to discern sensitive policy issues at provincial and federal levels.
- Ability to manage complex issues that cut across provincial and federal jurisdictions.
- Experience coordinating and managing input from across the department, other Canadian governments, and industry organizations.
- Experience managing complex issues with diverging views within industry.
