**As our next Automation Specialist,** you will be responsible for the assembly, debugging, installation and startup of new or modified production equipment from the perspective of mechanical assembly, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls installation. Responsible for the sustenance of equipment documentation systems from the perspective of obtaining and updating technical reference manuals, instructions and drawings required to service this equipment long term.

**What You’ll Be Doing**:

- Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor and working with Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering and Design Services to optimize and upgrade production equipment, continuously improving manufacturing cells in order to ensure long term customer satisfaction, employee safety and welfare, and business economic success.
- Work as a team member in order to complete the implementation of new or modified production machines in conjunction with new manufacturing projects.
- Ensure operational quality and efficiency targets are maintained.
- Ensure that all levels of safety are implemented into each automation change.
- Maintenance of Quality Operating Systems with respect to equipment documentation and record retention as per ISO/IATF 16949 standards
- Improvements in machine maintainability and reliability
- Work in compliance with Johnson Electric FPS Quality, Safety & Environmental Operating Systems
- Assist in materials acquisition and implementation and inventory control for all machine wears and spares.
- Assist in implementation of Automotive Operating Systems including APQP, PPAP, and QOS as per ISO/IATF 16949 Standards as they relate to Facilities Engineering. This includes the machine program libraries.
- Development of PLC and motion-based machine logic programs
- Completion of run at rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations.
- Ensuring ongoing support for Operations, Quality, and Facilities management with respect to ongoing process continuous improvement
- Other assigned duties as needed.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- A technical diploma in engineering technology or appropriate combination of education & relevant experience
- Hands on technical skills with respect to Mechanical Assembly, Machine Repair, Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems, PLC and CNC based control and logic systems. Welding and basic machining skills are a definite asset.
- Understanding of automotive systems and quality requirements based on ISO/IATF 16949 operating systems
- Excellent communications, negotiating, conflict management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
- Ability redesign/engineer the machine components necessary to improve equipment performance
- Proficiency in related software
- Must be capable of specifying and sourcing materials and equipment to best suit requirements
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls and robotics and the programming of same
