**Position Title**: OHS Coordinator

**Reports To**: Regional OHS Manager

**Hours**: Full-time (40 hours/ 5 days a week)

**Location**: Onsite at Liberty Tire Recycling - Annacis Island Delta, BC

**Compensation**:$28.85-31.75 per hour.

**Job Summary**: We are seeking an enthusiastic OHS Coordinator to join our team and assist with various Health and Safety functions. You will support our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. You will work directly with the Regional Health and Safety Manager, Site General Manager, Site Operations management and Corporate Safety Managers to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, implement safety policies and procedures, conduct safety training, and promote a safety culture within the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OHS Professional looking to join a ESG driven company or a student current enrolled in a Health and Safety Experience pursuing a degree in HR or related field to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with local and provincial regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues.
- Collaborate with management and employees to develop corrective actions and preventative measures to address identified hazards and enhance safety.
- Assist in investigating incidents and near-misses, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Conduct employee safety training sessions, including new hire orientations and refresher training, to promote safe work practices and increase safety awareness.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to safety inspections, training, incidents, and other relevant documentation.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and occupational health and safety best practices.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to developing and implementing safety initiatives.
- Assist in the coordination of emergency response procedures, including drills and exercises.
- Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with employees, addressing safety concerns, and encouraging reporting of unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Flexibility to work off-shift hours and regular site visits during AM, PM and GY shifts will be required, some occasional weekend work.
- Some travel required visits to customer sites, offsite locations and other Liberty locations.

**Requirements**:

- A diploma or degree in Occupational or currently enrolled in Health and Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, particularly in British Columbia, Canada.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- First aid and equipment training or trainer training is considered an asset but not a requirement.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Basic understanding of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
- Prior experience or co-op/internship in a safety-related role is an asset but not mandatory.
