**Description of Duties and Responsibilities**

**Description of Position**

The Building Caretaker will report directly to the Senior Manager and will perform a variety of routine maintenance, and housekeeping duties to maintain the building and grounds of Westmount PSH program of the George Spady Society. Duties will include routine building and equipment inspections, safety and security checks of building and exterior, general cleaning interior/exterior, repairs, and working with the property maintenance coordinator, and contractors as needed. The Building Caretaker will have an open, accepting and non-judgmental attitude and will be well-organized, detail oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks as needed or requested by the Senior Manager.

**Description of Duties and Responsibilities**
- Arrange for regular maintenance of equipment and internal systems (i.e., Heating systems, plumbing, appliances, alarms, and security cameras)
- Interior and exterior building maintenance and upkeep
- Perform site inspections, note concerns, and complete required repairs or liaise with property maintenance coordinator/contractors and Senior Manager as needed to facilitate completion of identified repairs
- Monitor activities that happen outside the building, such as proper waste disposal and recycling
- Complete routine exterior maintenance and upkeep, such as snow removal, lawn care, and garbage removal
- Complete safety checks and complete or facilitate improvements
- Coordinate parking space allocation where applicable
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Maintain an orderly inventory of tools and supplies
- Other duties as required

**Position Requirements**
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in a Caretaker/Building Maintenance position or similar role. Work experience as a Building/Facilities Coordinator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of facilities management operations and building maintenance including plumbing, heating, mechanical and technological systems and safety standards
- Familiarity with office equipment and security systems
- Hands on experience with building management software
- Understanding of OH&S legislation and safety regulations and protocols
- Firm understanding of standard cleaning and disinfecting procedures, products, and equipment including universal precautions and protocols
- Sound judgement and the ability to think quickly during emergencies
- A valid driver’s license in the province of Alberta
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check

**Hours of work**: Part-time. Hours to be determined
