As our new Sustainable Finance Practice Lead, you will play an important role on our ESG Advisory team, whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

**Job Description**:
**What you’ll be doing**

SLR is a leading provider of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) and Impact advisory services to the finance sector, including Development Finance Institutions, Banks, Export Credit Agencies, Private Equity and Impact investors (collectively, Financial Institutions). Our services include, but are not limited to, Environment & Social (E&S) and Impact strategy, management systems, due diligence, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and assurance. We also provide specialist consulting capabilities to the finance sector on climate change, gender and DEI, decent work, human rights, amongst others.

The role will be a leadership position to support the growth and success of SLR’s Sustainable Finance practice in Canada, reporting to the Advisory Service Line lead in Canada and the head of Sustainable Finance globally at SLR. You will work daily with Financial Institutions (FI) focused on making an impact alongside their returns, mostly in emerging markets, with many of those at the forefront of embedding sustainability in their day
- to-day approach to business.

**Your role will include**:

- Team leadership, focused on building and managing an exceptional team of ESG and Impact specialists in Canada, that is collaborative, engaged and pro-actively supports clients and projects across the Americas and globally.
- Business development and sales, with a focus on the Americas, including identifying, developing and managing new or existing FI clients and opportunities, overseeing proposal preparation and winning project work. The opportunities will be spread across various ESG and Impact topics but will primarily focus on E&S due diligence, E&S management systems (for FI’s and portfolio investments), E&S performance monitoring and evaluation, and E&S reporting.
- Facilitating relationship building and growth within the Finance Advisory teams in the US and other SLR Regions.
- Leading projects, including the management and directing of client engagements to ensure we successfully deliver to clients, and commercial and health & safety risks are carefully managed and minimized.
- Thought leadership, both internally and externally, by actively networking with SLR’s Sustainable Finance team globally, and being involved in industry associations relevant to the work we do.

- At least 15 years’ experience working with finance institutions on ESG and Impact, ideally with project experience in Central and South America and /or other emerging markets.
- Familiarity with international best practice ESG and Impact standards and benchmarks such as the IFC Performance Standards (and WBG EHS Guidelines), Equator Principles, UN SDG’s, etc.
- Experience leading and growing teams of people, preferably in the consulting environment. Skills to supervise project team(s), coach and mentor junior staff.
- Fluency in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese would be advantageous.
- An excellent attention to detail and a focus on high quality outputs.
- The ability to analyse, and interpret, technical E&S and Impact information to understand and articulate the potential risks/opportunities and commercial consequences and propose pragmatic, actionable recommendations.
- Entrepreneurial skills, with an ability to spot and to turn larger market trends into opportunities for clients and SLR.
