**Responsibilities**:

- The Program Assistant supports the effective and efficient administration of the undergraduate program in the Department of Biochemistry by assisting in the coordination, preparation and evaluation of large-enrollment core courses. The role collates and administers exams and assignments and helps to coordinate and maintain online materials for Biochemistry 2280, 3380, 3381 and 3382 (with a combined enrollment of >2400 students). The role serves as a first point of contact and provides information to students regarding courses and acts as a resource for faculty members, providing guidance regarding policies and procedures in response to inquiries. The Program Assistant provides administrative support to the department office, assists with updating websites and processing financial transactions as required, and provides back-up and support for other staff members for the undergraduate and graduate programs during busy periods as needed

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Community College Diploma in an administrative field

**Experience**:

- 2 years of experience providing customer service and administrative support for the administration of University level courses

- Knowledge of general office procedures including records management systems
- Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills
- Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on work assignments
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
- Written and verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Customer service skills to understand customer needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community
