- **About This Opportunity**_

Reporting to the Camp Olave Management Committee (COMC) Personnel Coordinators, in this role, you will be a part of the Camp Olave Summer Staff Team. With over 1500 meters of ocean beach overlooking the scenic Georgia Strait, this position will allow you to play an important part in the girls’ fun, friendship, adventures, and discovery at Camp Olave. The camp has been operating for 95 years providing a variety of camping experiences for girls. Our On-Site Summer Caretaker position will allow you to play an important part in the management of the camp, assisting the campers’ experience at Camp Olave. Full-time accommodation will be provided onsite during the work term.
- **In this role you will**:_
- Assist COMC with adherence to the health and safety requirements of GGC Safe Guide, the Province of BC, and the Municipality of Sechelt, as well as fire and insurance regulations.
- Check campers into their campsite and check them out when they leave.
- Field complaints or concerns from the campers
- Ensure campers are following safety rules
- Liaise with maintenance crew and cleaning crew
- Ensure that the cabins/sites are safe and clean prior to campers arriving.
- Ensure that the washrooms (Dude’s and The Royal Flush) are clean and ready for use prior to campers arriving.
- Keep an open dialogue with the Personnel Coordinators of the COMC
- Collect crest orders and distributes same to the campers
- Order supplies - cleaning products, toilet paper, etc.
- Pick up and distribute camp mail
- Ensure that each site has sufficient supplies prior to campers’ arrival
- Submit monthly written reports to the COMC
- Compile a monthly bed night count and submit data to the COMC
- Provide archery training (training to perform this duty will be provided) to Guiders when lifeguards are off site
- Coordinate Camp Olave’s role in the event of a natural disaster with the Sunshine Coast Emergency Program

Be available for emergency situations while campers are on-site (evenings and weekends). On-call duty will be assigned outside of work hours based on operational requirements for adequate camp oversight.
- **Position Requirements**:_
- Awareness of the purpose and the direction of Camp Olave and the Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles of GGC
- Knowledge of/ability to learn Safe Guide (GGC’s risk management manual) with emphasis on waterfront.
- Possession of great interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups
- Maintenance of a valid Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening activities

Reliability, initiative, and ability to work efficiently without supervision
- **Position Assets include prior experience in one or more of the following**:_
- Camp management
- Guest registration (checking guests in and out)
- Occupational Health and Safety experience in a professional or volunteer organization
- Work schedule preparation
- Lifeguarding
- Professional cleaning
- **Starting Hourly Salary: $25.00 per hour**_

A modified hourly rate will be applicable for tasks/duties carried out and/or required during evenings and weekends for emergency purposes. Any duties performed outside of regular work hours will be compensated as per established employment standards.

This position will remain open until filled. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
