**The Role**

The **Supervisor, Maintenance & Construction** is responsible for the overall maintenance of the buildings and the general site of the Britannia Mine Museum ensuring that the site is clean, safe and accessible. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the growth and success of the Museum through the long-term viability and reliability of the site and its components. The Supervisor, Maintenance & Construction supervises the Museum maintenance team to perform their required tasks to a standard of excellence. Additionally, they supervise construction undertaken by Museum staff for site improvements, repairs and exhibits. The Supervisor, Maintenance & Construction is a champion for the Museum’s Mission, Vision, Values and fully abides by the BMM Code of Conduct.

In addition you are highly organized; able to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously and goal oriented. You consider yourself to be adaptive and creative; with a willingness to learn and utilize new and innovative techniques and technology to achieve objectives within tight budget and time limits.

**Important Information**:

- Starting wage $32.00/hr. (based on experience)
- Applicants must have reliable transportation (car or carpool) to the Museum for all shifts (there is NO public transportation)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform and supervise maintenance tasks on Museum assets: historical buildings and machinery, modern buildings and systems, site utilities infrastructure, and other site components, both inside and in the outdoors
- Lead and participate in the construction of new exhibits and rehabilitation of existing exhibits, in collaboration with the curatorial team and tasking Maintenance staff as appropriate
- Monitor and evaluate Maintenance staff in cooperation with the Site Manager
- Provide and coordinate department-related training for new staff including those in other departments
- Prioritize maintenance requirements
- Identify assets for inclusion in the maintenance program
- Collaborate with the Site Manager to implement and maintain the Museum’s preventative maintenance program
- Respond to Maintenance calls from Museum staff in a timely manner
- Play a lead role in planning and executing select capital improvement projects
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure fiscal responsibility is maintained
- Use power and hand tools in a safe and appropriate manner
- Operate Museum vehicle assets safely and efficiently
- Be an active member of the Museum Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Lead the yearly review of the Safe Work Procedures for the Maintenance department
- Ensure storage of department consumables are kept filled as required
- Function as Museum Shift Boss and First Aid Attendant while on site (training provided)
- Collaborate with the Site Manager and Manager, People + Culture with hiring
- Other duties as assigned

**You Have**:

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, or equivalent relevant experience
- A Certificate or other designation in Building Maintenance a strong asset
- First aid OFA level 1 (minimum)
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Experience with skid-steer machines and elevated work platforms (or equivalent)
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Museum as there is no public transportation

**We would be really impressed if**:
You have experience with not-for-profit organizations is an asset

Have a certificate or other designation in Building Maintenance

You have worked in a similar role in a museum or tourism destination site

**Qualifications**:

- OFA Level 1 (minimum) can be acquired after hiring
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Completion of a criminal record check in accordance with the Museum’s Child and Vulnerable People Code of Conduct.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $32.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 - 40 per week
