**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:
The short-term counsellor will see clients in the Individual and Family Counselling Program (IFCP) who are provided with subsidies in a short-term, solution-focused counselling model. The **Short-Term Counsellor** assists clients to identify, understand and overcome personal problems using a service plan model to achieve personal objectives. The incumbent provides service to individuals, couples and families and is responsible for completion of clinical outcome measures to record progress. The incumbent may also lead self-improvement groups and facilitate critical incident stress debriefings as required.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelors degree or college diploma in social work or equivalent degree / diploma is essential.
- Membership within a recognized counselling governing body (the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the College of Social Workers and Social Service Worker) must be maintained
- The Short-Term Counsellor must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the field of clinical counselling with appropriate supervision
- Five years of clinical experience
- Ongoing participation in continuing education opportunities.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:

- Incumbent must have working knowledge of computers and be proficient in using MS Office suite and the internet. Experience with client database and scheduling software preferred. The ability to quickly learn and become proficient with new types of software an asset.
- Proof of appropriate vaccination for COVID-19
- CPIC (Vulnerable Sector Check)
- Ability to speak French an asset.

**Please be aware that French-speaking counsellors are entitled to an additional annual stipend and additional pay for any amount of time that French is used in their practice.**
