Job Title: MDML Student Project Assistant - AV Hub Documentation & Signage

Reports to: Associate Librarian

Hour of work: 20 hours

Hourly Rate: $15.85

Classification: AMUSE A

Duration: May - August 31, 2024

Position Summary:
The student in this position will work on 2 projects, one related to equipment collection documentation and the other, to stacks maintenance in the AV Hub. The first project involves developing a public equipment guide for users that covers the Music Library’s circulating audio-video equipment. The guide will be designed to help users identify which items are best suited to their performance, recording, or editing needs, and will provide them with information about how to use the equipment. The 2nd project is to plan and implement a new shelf labelling system in the AV Hub, related to a recent reorganization of materials in this area.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Knowledge of music and music materials, preferably with some formal training. Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to clearly transmit and receive information. Must be client-focused and service-oriented. Demonstrated familiarity with portable audio, video, and multimedia equipment, and comfort with Mac and PC environments. Previous library or similar experience preferred. English: spoken, read and written. French: spoken and read. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (3) on a scale of 0-4. Other languages an asset.
