- Opportunity
- The Youth Transition to Adulthood Program at Broadway Youth Resource Centre requires an experienced youth worker to join our team of Youth Transition Workers. The Youth Transition Worker supports a caseload of youth who are between the ages of 16 to 19 and under the care of the Ministry of Child and Family Development. Youth Transition Workers provide one to one support to program participants as they prepare to transition from the foster care system to independence. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of their caseload within the program team. As part of a larger working group at the Broadway Youth Resource Centre, the successful applicant will also provide support to the Resource Room and BYRC Programming.
- Responsibilities
- Conduct program intakes and program orientation
- Create ongoing Service Plans with youth and provide one-to-one support in reaching goals
- Engage in collaborative case planning with youth’s support team through weekly updates and ICM’s
- Engage in weekly one-to-one meetings with each youth on the caseload
- Maintain youth files, case notes and related documentation
- Participate in resource room shifts and programming
- Track spending and mileage, and report participant stats
- Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care or related field plus two years of related experience. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
- Standard first-aid certificate and CPR
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record

Additional Assets
- Experience working with multi-barriered youth from diverse backgrounds - demonstrated strength working with new comer and refugee youth is a definite asset
- Understanding of foster care and other child welfare systems
- Experience working with youth dealing with mental health and addictions challenges.
- Sound judgement and effective interpersonal skills.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong understanding of non-binary gender representations, expressions, and identities.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and impacts of colonialism, racism, and oppression.
