This opportunity is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, a federal grant that requires applicants to fulfill certain criteria, including being between the ages of 15 - 30 years. Penmar Community Arts Society consists of a variety of professionals who have an interest in creating live music experiences for the benefit of artists, audiences and the local music economy and we work with various community partners and advisors in the live music industry in BC and Canada.

You will be responsible for design projects including sales decks, website creative, brand assets, programming, marketing materials and presentations, and more. You will audit, strategize and develop content for our communications channels for a variety of projects. You will create visual and written assets to provide measurable value to our partners and communicate with our audiences and drive them to action.

This is a unique opportunity to work in the arts non-profit sector, contribute to the local music economy and learn marketing and promotion strategy for live music events and large celebrations.

Our 2023 projects may include:

- Establish a new festival in South Surrey to support the Semiahmoo Fish & Game Club and the Little Campbell Hatchery
- Produce a series of monthly community concerts in Ocean Park Hall, working with BEC Entertainment
- Launch a new boutique Classical & Jazz Concert Series to take place in a variety of South Surrey and White Rock venues working with Maria’s Records.
- Hold monthly Music Lottery draws.
- Other opportunities at proposal stage: Canada Day, Uptown Live, community concert series in Victoria

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Communicate with clients and consumers to develop designs that portray their intended message
- Collaborate with production, marketing and operations to create successful campaigns and websites for our events
- Hands-on creation of content; across articles, video & social
- Use of filming and editing skills to create top class content
- Produce storyboards, scripts and treatments
- Produce a variety of digital and print ready artwork for social media, posters, sales decks, marketing collateral, etc..
- Keep up to date on digital consumption trends and being an expert at how to engage people online
- Work as a core member of the creative team on creating content for brands, and always maintaining a high-quality output of your work
- Working with the team to create campaigns that will exceed goals
- Contribute to the execution and implementation of new strategies and opportunities
- Participation in special projects and perform other related duties as requested

Skills and Requirements:

- 2-3 years’ experience as a Graphic Designer or similar
- Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or similar
- Experience with key social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
- Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Excellent brand management skills
- Ability to work independently and be held accountable with mínimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
- Loves concerts and live events.
- Some experience with interactive media
- Some experience with web design
- The ability to meet and self-manage tight deadlines
- The ability to work well within a team environment
- Outgoing, proactive, and professional

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Apprenticeship
Contract length: 16 weeks

**Salary**: $20.00 per hour
