Asphalt Raker

**Matrix HR** is seeking a
**Raker** for our client in the paving industry in
**Calgary, AB**. Please read on for further information on job duties and requirements.

**Duties**:

- Spread asphalt using a rake with strong efficiency and appropriate speed.
- Shovel up extra asphalt and clean up debris.
- Use raking techniques to level, blend, and reduce marks and seams in the asphalt and to ensure that no standing water exists.
- Establish proper match points and limits of asphalt mix adjacent to structures on or around the road surface.
- Use measuring tapes and String lines to measure the width of the road as a paving reference.
- Direct Shovel man and roller man to direct new material to be placed and compacted after it is properly leveled.
- Sand any rough areas and review the entire project for quality issues that require more leveling/patching to ensure no water remains puddling.
- Compact any edges with the rake when a road or driveway is being performed.
- Keep Tools clean of debris at all times (Putty Knife & emulsion).
- Ensure asphalt seams are smooth and level by reworking them if necessary.
- Perform a walk around the work site to ensure it is free from garbage, debris, and other hazards.
- Shovel asphalt mix in hard-to-reach areas as needed.
- Perform labor tasks as required.

**Requirements**:

- 3-5 years of experience as a Raker is required with demonstrable skills and technique.
- Ability to consistently lift 20+ pounds.
- Resilience to working in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
- Strong knowledge of paving methods and materials.
- Exceptional safety mindset and communications skills.
- A class 5 driver's license with a clean driver abstract.
- Full PPE and strong compliance with safety equipment.
