Position: Senior, Intermediate and Assistant GIS Technician
Location: Nanaimo / Duncan, BC
**Job Type**: Full or Part-time
**Salary**: $22.50 - $35 per hour
Generous Forest Services (Genfor) is a full-phase natural resource management company based out of Southern
Vancouver Island. Our headquarters is in downtown Duncan with satellite offices in Nanaimo and Port Alberni.
Genfor services include but are not limited to forest management and consulting, engineering, silviculture site plans,
timber cruising, and GIS analysis. We also offer contract supervision of harvesting, log marketing, and LIDAR drone services
across coastal British Columbia. Our expanding client base includes community forests, woodlots, tree farm licenses,
private landowners, and First Nation tenures. Genfor's mission is to provide professional services while
maintaining a safe and respectable work environment for our employees.
Genfor is seeking Senior, Intermediate and Assistant GIS Technicians to join our growing Mapping and Geospatial
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education with a degree/diploma in forestry or Advanced GIS.
- Experience with Provincial geospatial information management standards and systems (e.g. VRI, RESULTS, FOM, TANTALIS, ParcelMapBC, etc.), related to Forestry and Land Management.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in or exposure to, forest engineering, timber development, or silviculture.
- Thorough understanding of Trimble GPS data collection, correction, and integration.
- Working knowledge of RoadEng.
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 products (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive) in a cloud-based environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- A valid BC driver’s license.
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of network administration and troubleshooting.
- Programming proficiency in Python, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML.
- Understanding of UAV data collection and subsequent LiDAR and photography processing.
- Background in silviculture surveying and reporting.
- RESULTS and FTA submission preparation and reporting experience would be an asset.
- A Transport Canada Advanced/Basic Drone Pilot License would be an asset.

with the ABCFP as an RFT or RPF are preferred.
Duncan - Nanaimo - Port Alberni
