The Associate Head supports the Cancer Program and Head of Physics by providing operational oversight of day-to-day clinical activities of the physics department.

The Associate Head advises the Head of Physics on strategic priorities for the department, and acts as a representative or delegate for the Head of Physics at meetings at the program, service line, corporate, or provincial level.

The Associate Head will help manage relationships with vendors to ensure optimal value to the organization and is expected to support the academic goals of the Department of Medical Physics and the Division of Medical Physics.

**Rotation/Shifts**:
Days, 8 hour shifts.

**Basic Requirements**:

- Ph.D. Degree in Physics;
- Minimum of Eight (8) years of clinical experience in a radiotherapy department;
- Five (5) years minimum leadership experience in clinical radiation physics;
- Certification in radiation oncology physics through the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine or the American Board of Radiology;
- Recognized internally and externally as an expert on key medical physics and other scientific issues;
- Demonstrated leadership abilities;
- Excellent communication skills, including a professional demeanor and approach;
- Ability to implement, facilitate, and lead change;
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Fellowship in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine;
- Eligibility for faculty appointment at University of Ottawa at Associate or Full Professor level.
