**The role**You’ll be an integral part of our kitchen team, **MOVING FAST**, handling everything from inventory counts, procurement, receiving and stocking produce, grocery runs, vendor relations, and maintaining cleanliness and organization. You will be able to hone the inventory management process and **make it your own, while also learning the FIYF way.** Assess work procedures, and pinpoint opportunities for increasing efficacy or productivity. The role involves physical tasks such as lifting and organizing produce inventory, but you'll also dive into computer work, including Excel spreadsheet management. **Key Responsibilities**
- Conducting twice-weekly inventory counts, performing physical checks of all items, and cross-checking with inventory software to maintain accuracy. Additional physical counts may be necessary to address any discrepancies that arise.
- Managing weekly ordering and receiving from multiple vendors will also be a key aspect of your role. This involves a variety of tasks, such as inventory counting, updating spreadsheets, receiving goods, and logging wastage. You'll also be responsible for updating pricing across spreadsheets and distributing "What’s Fresh" lists to the team to keep everyone informed.
- Perform monthly weighing of perishable dry goods and track data in spreadsheets, seeking potential improvements to streamline this process. You'll also source new suppliers/vendors, conduct cost analysis for inventory items, and maintain our standards of quality while seeking the best pricing options.
- Ensuring organization and cleanliness in the cooler and freezer is paramount, and you'll be responsible for tasks such as changing cilantro and parsley water and removing empty cardboard boxes to maintain proper storage conditions.
- Your daily responsibilities will also include conducting checks for spoilage, with a particular emphasis before receiving a big produce order. Regularly removing unlabeled or expired items from the cooler and freezer every Friday is essential for upholding cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Restocking empty cooler bins and protein bins as needed is crucial to ensure sufficient inventory levels for kitchen operations. You'll also manage the Uline ordering of packaging materials, ensuring Operations is promptly notified of any shortages or out-of-stock items.
- Tracking inventory of Costco items and making bi-weekly runs to purchase necessary supplies is essential to keep our kitchen well-equipped. You'll also place Instacart orders for obscure client-requested ingredients as directed by the Chef, ensuring timely fulfillment.
- Regular communication with chefs regarding product levels, inventory needs, and potential improvements to ordering processes is key to keeping our kitchen running smoothly. Investigating and resolving discrepancies between inventory software and physical counts, as well as analyzing trends in ordering and wastage to optimize inventory management practices, will be part of your ongoing responsibilities.
