The Insurance Council of British Columbia is the regulatory organization that licenses and regulates the activities of over 50,000 life and general insurance agents, general insurance salespersons, insurance adjusters, and restricted travel insurance agents in British Columbia.

**The Opportunity**
The Technical Writer will be responsible for all aspects of the research and writing procedures and related documentation that meets organizational standards. They will gain a deep understanding of licensing and organizational services and translate complex information into simple and polished content for internal and external users. **This position is for a 12 month contract period.**
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Work with the department and non-departmental leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit repositories, and determine the best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage of information.
- Research, create, and maintain templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow easy use.
- Develop content in media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent voice across all documentation.
- Write, revise and edit user-friendly content that meets the target audience's needs, turning insights into language for user success.
- Review and research current processes against regulatory requirements to ensure consistency and identify gaps.
- Develop and maintain a detailed database of reference materials, staff and committee frameworks, and training protocols.
- Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement.
- Support creating and removing internal and external forms and templates as required.
- Support the department in reviewing and updating information on the website.
- Ensure that data collected and reported identify the organization's and external bodies' priorities.
- Support the Manager, Licensing Qualifications and Services in establishing and managing staff and committee training processes in human rights, cultural awareness and administrative fairness.
- Handle other duties as assigned by the Manager, Licensing Qualifications and Services.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as an effective technical writer in a regulatory, public sector, financial services, or related fields.
- 3 years experience in a mid to senior-level business support role in a
- service-orientated environment.
- Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
- Professional certification (eg: Society for Technical Communication)
- Experience in using XML tools to create documentation
- Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
- Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Experience in working with stakeholders to improve user experience (ex, design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams to support content
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Upon hire, new employees will be placed in a starting salary between the minimum and P50 (midpoint) of the salary range. The P50 of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position. In some circumstances, the new employee may be eligible for compensation beyond the P50 of the salary range.
