**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Officer to join our team. This role is responsible for the strategic coordination of our safety program and the sustainment of our Certificate of Recognition (COR) status as well as be part of the re-construction of our entire existing safety program. Our Safety Officer is a crucial position and will be promoting a culture of safety within the entire organization.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with local regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Coordinate, develop and deliver safety training and safety orientations and other training as applicable.
- Develop and implement effective corrective actions in response to incident reports and investigations, near misses and audit findings.
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety awareness and practices.
- Oversee all safety paperwork such as Hazard Assessments, incident reports, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative developments, industry trends, and best practices related to workplace safety.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role in the safety industry.
- Certification in SCSA safety courses, including but not limited to First Aid, LSE, Safety Auditor training, Safety Management, Basic Training Techniques and WHMIS.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of OHS regulations and other applicable safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey safety information to employees at all levels.
- Demonstrates team leadership and holds team members to high standards of accountability.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

**Desirable**
- Certifications in WHMIS Train the Trainer, Confined Space Training, Fall Protection Training, OHC Level 1&2.

Expected hours: 40 per week
