**Make a difference**

We are currently searching for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our family at Toronto Community Housing. As a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) you will provide a full range of parking control and administrative duties. In this role, you will also be required to be a certified City of Toronto Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, in which you will be responsible for ensuring that illegally parked vehicles are dealt with in an appropriate manner including tagging and/or towing or posting vehicles with warning notices. In addition, you will be responding to enquiries and complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.

**What you’ll do**
- Carry out general duties of a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer under the direction of a Supervisor Parking Enforcement and/or Field Supervisor in accordance with the Toronto Police Service Standards and procedures
- Respond to enquiries and complaints in a prompt and courteous manner
- Ensure that illegally parked vehicles are dealt with in an appropriate manner including tagging and/or towing or posting vehicles with a 10-day “Warning Notice”
- Carry out parking control duties, in accordance with municipal by-laws and the provisions of the Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Program
- Attend court for disputed parking tickets, as a witness, and to file documents as required
- Carry out general administrative duties under the direction of Supervisor, Parking Enforcement
- Enter data for parking tickets into a database
- Prepare court notification sheets and ensure staff are notified of court attendance, as required
- Ensure the pick-up of all official documents either through the Metropolitan Toronto Police Service, Parking Enforcement Unit or the Provincial Courts;
- Assist the Supervisor, Parking Enforcement in implementing any new initiatives at particular sites on a pilot or community-wide basis
- Carry out duties assisting the Supervisor, Parking Enforcement for such initiatives, as training staff, and reporting on a variety of security strategies and approaches
- Play a supportive role in the change process by working to develop strong working partnerships and community ties
- Undertake other related security functions as required
- Assist operating unit staff in 1st cleaning and line painting and common law tows
- Assist security personnel with MLEO duties
- Conduct site audits to ensure requisite parking related signage in accordance with legislative and Police requirements
- Support operating unit staff in provision of appropriate signage for communities
- Work cooperatively with Toronto Police Services to ensure proper signage in communities
- Assist as necessary with the distribution of bulk parking permit orders
- Attend community meetings as required
- Investigate parking permit fraud
- Engage and educate tenants on parking program
- Additional duties as assigned

**What you’ll need**
- 1-3 Years of experience in Parking Enforcement
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License (proof of possession will be required at time of job offer)
- Must pass and maintain full security and police clearance including fingerprinting and background check.
- Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) Background Clearance
- Ability to complete the Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO) course
- Knowledge of safety and security practices, techniques, municipal by-laws and court procedures
- Ability to understand parking related rules, regulations and documentation
- Ability to exercise good judgment in difficult situations
- A commitment to excellent customer service
- Proven ability and sensitivity in providing respectful service to a diverse population (age, race, language, gender, sexual orientation, culture and disability)
- Excellent listening, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Ability to write (reports, letters) using clear language and Microsoft Office Products
