Student Public Health Inspector

This position will be located at either the Woodstock or St. Thomas site.
Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Health, Southwestern Public Health is seeking a motivated, outgoing, self-starting individual who is committed to excellence and integrity and who is interested to contributing to the Environmental Health Team, with work focused on the West Nile virus and beach water sampling programs. This position will focus on the requirements in the Recreational Water Protocol in the Ontario Public Health Standards for monitoring the quality of beaches and the vector surveillance component of the West Nile virus program. This includes testing water by collecting samples in major beaches in the area and setting mosquito traps in locations throughout Oxford County, Elgin County and the city of St. Thomas. There will also be the opportunity to experience other Environmental Health program work.

Essential Qualifications
- Currently enrolled or completed post secondary Bachelor of Sciences in Environmental Health program that has been accredited by the CIPHI Board of Certification.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills in a variety of standard programs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others in a mentored team setting.
- Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively in a busy environment.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable access to an insured working vehicle.

**Immunization Requirements**: Provide documentation you have received two (2) doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, plus at least one booster dose, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
