Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a **Geotechnical (Civil) Technician** to join our team in **Ottawa, Ontario**.

Thurber is a specialized consulting firm with a focus on geotechnical engineering. Our project work includes transportation, large and small infrastructure, natural hazards, development and more. We undertake challenging assignments that can include steep terrain, deep foundations, compressible soils, landslides, contamination, or other complications.

As our Technician, you will work on varied projects and develop your skills with guidance and mentorship from our senior team.

**Responsibilities**
- Carry out geotechnical drilling investigations;
- Provide construction inspection and quality control/assurance testing for various infrastructure and transportation projects;
- Carry out laboratory testing on soils and concrete; and,
- Liaise with project engineers and client’s site representatives.

**Qualifications and Assets**
- Completion of a College program in Civil Engineering Technology;
- 2+ years work experience in the field of geotechnical investigations or construction materials testing;
- Registration with OACETT or immediate eligibility;
- Previous experience supervising borehole drilling investigations is an asset;
- This position would appeal to those who thrive in a fast pace and able to work effectively in a team environment;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet and word-processing);
- Proficiency with spoken and written English is required;
- Out of town work is required;
- Valid Class G Drivers license is required; and,
- Driving record will be requested.
