BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is hiring a **Manager, Indigenous Health.**

**Role Summary**
In accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic direction of PHSA, safety, including both patient and employee safety, is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Health Programs, the Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of strategic programs and related projects relating to the broad areas of transformation, quality improvement and evaluation. The Manager is responsible for the identification, planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of key programs and related projects. The Manager works collaboratively with a variety of internal and external partners in support of the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic anti-Indigenous racism training, policy, Indigenous cultural safety, knowledge exchange programs and related projects. Given the complexity of the system level changes expected through the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic programs and related projects, the Manager applies proven decolonizing leadership, management knowledge and skills to enable wise practice, performance improvement, and system integration in alignment with Indigenous Health programs and PHSA vision, mandate, and strategic directions.
- BCEHS and PHSA uphold the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and the work of Governments in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to establish a clear and sustainable path to lasting reconciliation. Reconciliation is an ongoing process and a shared responsibility; PHSA is committed to creating opportunities which implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Mandate._
**What you’ll do**
- In collaboration with BCEHS directors and leadership, manages the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the BCEHS Indigenous Health Strategy. Ensuring BCEHS Indigenous health strategies align with PHSA’s Indigenous Health team, Calls to Action of Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and the findings and recommendations of In Plain Sight report. With the aim of improving patient experience and health care outcomes for Indigenous peoples accessing BCEHS services.
- Collaborates with BCEHS directors and leadership to support the promotion, monitoring, and evaluation of the strategy, ensuring effective systems, practices, policies, and timelines are met.
- Manages a diversity of programs/related projects of varying scope in a complex and changing multidisciplinary environment and with a diversity of partners/partners. Maintains responsibility for ensuring that programs and projects are completed in adherence to project protocols/ charters/ agreements, timelines, applicable institutional and ethical policies and procedures, and pertinent legislation.
- Manages the identification, collection and analysis of relevant information/evidence relating to current programs and related projects and synthesizes findings to effectively integrate these into the development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and policy/practice implications of strategic programs and initiatives.
- Develops, coordinates and/or oversees the coordination of proposals, budgets, and workplans for proposed programs and related projects, ensuring that resources will meet program/project objectives and high-quality deliverables; prepares mid-term and final reports.
- Leads and/or coordinates strategic program teams, related working groups, and advisory committees to achieve targeted goals/objectives of strategic programs and related projects, and to build and strengthen relationships with key partners and partners.
- Improves the quality and effectiveness of BCEHS team processes by formulating and implementing team-based recommendations.
- In cooperation with internal and external partners, manages and resolves issues to ensure high quality delivery of service and escalate issues as appropriate according to defined procedures.
- Conducts investigations into incidents and patient, client, and employee concerns that may arise in a program area in a fair and consistent manner. Fosters a positive work environment that empowers and encourages employees to realize their maximum potential, creating commitment, ownership, and personal growth.
