Special Education Consultant

We are currently a team of 4 full-time equivalent dedicated special education consultants. We meet regularly to review literature, hold case discussions, and plan initiatives and professional development sessions for teachers. Our mission is to better support school teams and their students. We actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.

**ASSIGNMENT**:

- providing support to teachers in the adaptation of programs for students with physical, social-emotional or learning difficulties;
- evaluating student needs and progress using a variety of educational assessment strategies;
- supporting the development of individual educational plans (IEP)
- training teachers in the use of approaches and strategies, practices and pedagogical materials for students presenting with persistent difficulties
- helping schools to develop special projects
- representing the Board on local, regional and provincial committees, as requested;
- Other related duties, as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
The Special Education Consultant will be a qualified teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in education.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:

- Master’s degree in Special Education or in the Teaching of Reading
- experience as a Resource Teacher
- experience with teaching at the elementary, high school and adult sectors
- fluent in English and French, both in oral and written would be an asset
- Knowledge and comfort with computer literacy and assistive technology

**ANNUAL BASIC SALARY**:
In accordance with the Professionals’ Agreement: 49,456.00$ to $92,027.00$ per 35 hour/week according to experience and qualifications.
