**Youth & Sport Team Lead**

**Job Summary**:
Become one of the first “Youth & Sport Team Leads” in Hamilton with Free Play for Kids. For this role, you are incredible with kids, have amazing relationship skills, and love sports. The job is perfectly suited to anyone sports experience, leadership experience, and holds a degree in education, social work, or childcare.

Your main role, as a “Youth & Sport Team Lead,” is to be the captain You're the glue that holds your staff team together, ensures the plan of the day is delivered at the highest levels, and that families in your care feel safe to Play, Belong, and Grow.

Programming will start in schools January 2024, however training shifts will begin in early December.

**Education & Qualifications**:
A degree or diploma in Education, Social Work, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sociology, Youth Work, Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
- Experience working with kids such as coaching, social work, in school services, after
- school programs, day homes or summer camps.
- Experience coaching or delivering sport and play is a major asset.
- Experience playing a variety of sports is a major asset.
- Experience managing or leading a team is a major asset.
- Standard First Aid Certification and CPR training.
- Respect Group Certifications: Respect in Sport and Keeping Girls in Sport.
- Valid driver’s license with no at fault accidents.
- Clear Criminal and Vulnerable Sector check.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support families to register for the programs hosted at your site.
- Maintain the attendance list to ensure proper check-ins and check-outs are conducted daily.
- Help schedule your team of multi-sport coaches to ensure they know their shifts and to find coverage for days they are away.
- Ensure your team has the practice plans for each day and understands the sessions they are delivering alongside you.
- Lead the execution of the curriculum and lesson plans in Free Play’s four core sports of Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, and Flag Football.
- Make sure the gyms, fields, or classrooms in the school are booked for Free Play use and that all the equipment we need is on site and in good shape.
- There will be tournaments for the 4 different school sites to all come together and play each other. You’ll be coaching your teams in each space through friendly, fun, competition.
- Conducting formal and informal skills assessments for program participants.
- Completing additional training and certifications as required through the Free Play training program.
- As the main liaison with your school site, your role is to be a great holder of space and excellent at relationships with teachers in the school and parents and guardians.

**Position Conditions**:
This is a part-time position from 1-5:30pm, however the daily work schedule may vary depending on youth programming schedule. Job is performed in a school and recreation setting, but work setting may vary depending on projects.
- Free Play for Kids respectfully operates in the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant as well as the Between the Lakes Pur-chase. Which is Treaty 3 territory and home of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples._

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week

Schedule:

- 4 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
