At Trade Winds to Success Training Society, we are dedicated to empowering Indigenous individuals in Alberta through pre-trades training and employment services. Currently, we are looking for a passionate Communications and Student Engagement Officer to join our team in Edmonton. As the Communications and Student Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting Trade Winds programs and recruiting students individually or through agencies and partners.

Your main responsibility will be to actively promote Trade Winds programs. This involves recruiting students both on an individual basis and through agencies, communities, and partners for all intakes in Edmonton, in addition to overseeing Trade Winds marketing initiatives.

In alignment with our mission, we actively partner with funders and various stakeholders to engage potential program participants. The responsibilities include:

- Collaborate with the Trade Winds Program Manager to create an annual recruitment strategy for Trade Winds intakes, outlining the year's recruitment initiatives.
- Maintain and regularly update a contact list for recruitment networks, while actively seeking additional contacts.
- Stay informed about Trade Winds programming and services through consistent discussions with the Trade Winds Program Manager.
- Reach out to agencies, communities, schools, and other organizations serving Indigenous students/adults to organize meetings, information sessions, and tours promoting Trade Winds programs and recruiting students.
- Research and participate in relevant job fairs and networking events.
- Conduct information sessions for potential students in Edmonton, both in-person and virtually.
- Relay attendance messages from students to the Program Assistant or enter them into the appropriate attendance tracker promptly.
- Refer program participants who need assistance to the Client Services Manager and inform them of any potential student or attendance concerns.
- Create, curate, and manage all published content (including images, videos, and written materials) across social media and the Trade Winds website.
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media in a timely manner.
- Draft business communications that reflect Trade Winds' mission and objectives.

**KEY COMPETENCIES**:
The Communications and Student Engagement Officer should possess several key competencies that are essential for the role. These include:

- Excellent presentation and marketing skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- A thorough understanding of various social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, is crucial, along with a solid grasp of digital marketing principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Creative thinking is vital for developing innovative social media campaigns.
- A commitment to teamwork is important to effectively support the success of Trade Winds students.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Either a marketing certificate or diploma, or have two years of marketing experience.
- A compassionate approach and an understanding of students' challenges are essential.
- Experience working in Indigenous communities or with Indigenous students is preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer skills is required.
- Additionally, familiarity with trades or apprenticeship training is considered an asset.

**REMUNERATION & BENEFITS**:
This full-time position will be working at our office in Edmonton from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The salary range for this role is between $54,000 to $62,000 annually. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to support overall well-being and work-life balance. These benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
