**Position Details**- Our University’s Blackfoot name is Iniskim, meaning Sacred Buffalo Stone. The University is located in traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.- The Faculty of Arts and Science requires the services of a qualified Technical Specialist III in a continuing full-time position, beginning as soon as possible.- We are seeking a Biology Teaching Laboratory Manager, an individual who supports the teaching program within the Department of Biological Sciences.
- This is a full-time position that supports the teaching program within the Department of Biological Sciences.
- Duties will include:
- Testing and optimizing of undergraduate laboratories in conjunction with instructors
- Training and supervision of undergraduate students in using specialized pieces of equipment
- Supervision of AUPE personnel and graduate student assistants
- Scaling-up and optimizing protocols for undergraduate laboratories
- Culturing, preparing and working with a wide variety of live organisms
- Maintenance of scientific equipment and infrastructure
- Trouble-shooting equipment and experimental failures
- Development of safe practices for equipment use by students
- Inventory and ordering of materials for the teaching program
- Monitoring the Departmental teaching budget- Excellent communication,
- Organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use independent judgment to deal with unexpected changes to protocols, frequent interruptions and overlapping demands, while maintaining effective working relationships within the University community**Position Qualifications**-
- Preference will be given to applicants with an M.Sc., individuals with a B.Sc. and extensive technical experience will be considered.

**Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)**
- $4,691.00 - $5,246.00 monthly

**Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)**
- $4,691.00 - $5,799.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 10)
