Location: Joseph Brant Museum and Ireland House Museum
Wage: $20.41/hour
This position is responsible for researching, planning, teaching and supervising the delivery of school and adult education programs in accordance with educational goals. This role plays an important role in supporting the development of meaningful and inclusive programs that serve community members of all ages.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Researches, plans, teaches and supervises the delivery of school programs in accordance with target grade levels, curricula, and educational goals and consulting with educators.
- Researches, plans and delivers adult education programs and outreach programs in accordance with target audiences and attendance goals.
- Plans, delivers and supervises the delivery of tour programs.
- Monitors and evaluates programs on an ongoing basis.
- Assists with the planning and delivery of special events/activities.
- Assists in scheduling seasonal programs with the direction of the Supervisor of Public
Programs
- Develops co-operative programs with other groups.
- Liaise with the Manager of Marketing and Community Engagement to develop promotional materials
- Researches information relating to the museums and related topics.
- Prepares hand-out materials and kits.
- Assists in the development and administration of the education and interpretation budget, including purchasing inventory.
- Flexible and capable of adapting to unexpected situations, changing work hours and working environment.
OTHER DUTIES
- Maintains security in the buildings, arming and disarming security systems and securing exits.
- Front-line duties and reception such as processes gift shop and admission sales and answering phones for general questions.
- Provide training assistance to co-op students or volunteers
- Occasional travel to pick up supplies for programming
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
SKILLS
- Class management, critical thinking, strong communication, attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, dependable, ability to work independently or in a team environment, customer service skills, understanding of children’s development
QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma or University Degree with a focus in History, Child Studies or
Education
- 1-3 years in a work setting with public and or/educational programming or teaching experience.
- Standard First Aid/CPR Certification
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to excel in a flexible work environment.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Customer service skills.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 21-28 per week
**Salary**: $20.41 per hour
