**About This Position**:
This is a **full-time indefinite contract** position that has the potential to be made permanent. This is a '**floater**' position, which means that you would be trained to work in up to six program locations, mostly in our Residential Services Division. While you would have a regular schedule, you may not know which location you are going to work at until the day of the shift. Your work location on a given day would be determined by which program location has the most needs for your support.

**What will you do? **Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are responsible for the provision of direct support typically to adults who have an intellectual disability, challenging behaviours and/or dual diagnosis. Duties include provision of assistance with all skills of daily living, including personal care, skill development, household management; and support to individuals to enable them to participate fully in the life of the community. The DSP will demonstrate a person-centred philosophy and a commitment to agency mission.
**Education/Background Requirements**:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma (e.g., DSW, Behavioural Science, SSW, CYC, CJS, or a degree) and/or significant work experience in social services.
- Mandatory vulnerable sector screening (CPIC/VSS)
- A valid, Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s license is required.
- Proof of Covid vaccine status

- This position requires a mature person who has an appropriate combination of personal attributes, abilities, experiences and skills, taking into account the situational factors of persons served;
- Sound knowledge of, and demonstrated commitment to, the goals and mission of Community Living Kingston and District;
- Established work performance history of providing effective support to people with disabilities in the following areas: Household management, community participation, personal skills development, communication, etc.;
- Demonstrated competency in the areas of championing change & innovation, inclusive leadership, resource management, strategic thinking, advocacy, building relationships, facilitating growth & development, problem solving & decision making, resilience, as well as valuing equity, diversity & inclusion;
- Well organized, with the ability to manage time within busy program environments;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- **This position will require that the staff member excels at successfully providing supports to a wide range of complex needs, including behavioural (guided by Positive Behaviour Support Plans), personal care (e.g. bathing routines), and medical (e.g. routine medication administration);**:
- _Flexibility _and _versatility _is a requirement. The successful applicant will need to be prepared to change their expected assignment on short notice and be prepared to respond to emergency situations. It is unlikely that an applicant who enjoys routine and predictability will be successful in this role.
- Proven track record of exercising mature judgment and sensitivity in supporting people with disabilities and their families/support networks;
- An established track record of excellent work attendance;
- Basic sign language skills are an asset, but not required.
**Typical Hours of Work**:
- Initially, this position will generally be scheduled to work shifts which are currently anticipated to rotate between 7a-5p and 1p-11p, but other day/evening shifts may also be scheduled.
- This position will be required to work two out of every four weekends.
