The Coordinator of Volunteer and Essential Care Giver Engagement provides inspired and inspiring leadership that engages, sustains, and grows the impact of volunteers and Essential Care Givers ( referred to in this document together as Volunteers ) in the lives of those who call Shalom Village home. This opportunity is to stretch and expand on the leaders experience, knowledge, and vision for building on the potential of each volunteer to make a difference in this Shalom community. The Coordinator will inspire, orchestrate, and facilitate a multi-skilled volunteer team ‘to make every moment matter A.T.H.O.M.E. for those who make Shalom Village their home. They will work in alignment with other Shalom Village leaders to add the role of volunteer to enhance all aspects of life at Shalom Village. The Coordinator will work with the Directors of the AT HOME experience to sustain the Essential Care Giver program, integrating their learning, need for coaching and mentorship and support into their role with other volunteers.

The Coordinator will recruit, onboard, and lead the volunteers. They will ensure all legislative and Shalom Village mandates are met and regularly review with the volunteers their satisfaction with the role, and provide consistent, relevant learning opportunities to grow their own development as well as their impact at Shalom Village. They will coordinate and implement coaching and mentoring to volunteers to ensure they feel supported, to ensure their goals are being met and to ensure that Volunteer roles are in alignment with organizational priorities and its flourishing needs.

The Coordinator will role model and work to create the experience for the volunteers that reflects “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Mahatma Gandhi.

This leader will have experience and knowledge as a leader in a similar role, and a passion for making moments matter for seniors living at Shalom Village. Salary will be commensurate with education ,and experience. This is a 20 hour a week position that will require flexible hours of working depending on the needs of the volunteers and the programs/services they participate in. A working knowledge of the day to day rhythm of Jewish life and the ability to meet staff and those who live at Shalom Village where they are at is an asset. An ability to inspire others to volunteer and to be comfortable with talking to community groups about the value of volunteering is an key characteristic.
