**About us**:
West Coast Surgical Oncology is located in Vancouver, BC. The Oncology group is currently comprised of six renowned surgeons and a superb group of office support staff. Centered around providing exceptional patient care, we provide an array of surgical oncology services and treatments for cancer patients in the Lower Mainland.
West Coast Surgical Oncology is currently searching for a full time, Medical Office Assistant to join our team.
**Role Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide day to day administrative support to the surgical group and assigned individual doctor.
- Greet patients upon entrance to the clinic and put into the appropriate examination room.
- Coordinate patient appointments and attend to any patient scheduling inquiries or issues that arise.
- Book surgical dates (JPOR, UBC, BC Cancer, Minor Surgery) and ensure patients fill in correct paperwork.
- Manage assigned surgeons in person clinics.
- Entering and updating patient records accurately in the medical system.
- Prepare information for patient appointments (including pulling medical records etc.).
- Review and submit assigned OR packages.
- Ensure exam rooms are cleaned after each patient appointment and medical room supplies are restocked and organized.
- Liaise with key stakeholders as required to support collaborative care.
- Opening and/or closing clinic duties.
- Complete medical billing as requested.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum one year of experience working in a medical office environment (experience working in a medical specialist office is preferred).
- Approved Medical Office Assistant Certification.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record systems (i.e. Plexia) is considered an asset.
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Efficient organization and multitasking skills with the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven commitment to patient centered care.
- Knowledge of health administrative practices and ability to adhere to organizational policies, procedures and systems.
- Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy when dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters.
- Personable, collaborative and a team player.
